Pakistan Super League is the most celebrated event in the cricket history of Pakistan. In 2018, the market value of the PSL league was $1 billion. The inaugural season of the league yielded the profit of $2.6 million. There are six teams in Pakistan Super League representing Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.
Last year, PCB added a new team named as Multan Sultans. Later this year, PCB has terminated the contract of the franchise. A new team will replace the franchise this year. PCB sold the franchises for $93 million for ten years. The franchise will renamed after the contract sold to interested candidate.
Ali Khan Tareen, son of PTI Leader Jahangir Tareen showed interest in buying the sixth team. Ali Khan Tareen is a Business Man and Social tycoon. He is trying to bring change in South Punjab through his NGO and Cricket Project. Recently, he was elected as PTI MNA Candidate in NA-154. He wants to buy the team for the fourth PSL season. He has had three meeting with the Board officials. Ali Tareen has completed the initial work for tender for 4th edition.
Former Cricketer Nayyar Shahzad Abbasi served as the coordinator of Peshawar Zalmi in Azad Kashmir. He wants an introduction of Azad Kashmir team in Pakistan Super League. Abbasi stated the request in a letter and sent it to Pakistan Cricket Board and Prime Minister Imran Khan. He thinks the team with name of Kashmir will send a positive image to the world. This step will engage their thirty lac population.
